In the chaos of a fiery bus crash in Orland, California, 18-year-old Ismael Jimenez’s quick thinking and selfless actions saved the lives of others.
Jimenez was traveling on a charter bus carrying him and 47 others, students and counselors, to Humboldt State University when a FedEx truck steered across the median and crashed into the bus. With the bus in flames, Jimenez stayed behind to help, breaking out one of the windows and helping other passengers climb through to safety.
Jimenez was one of 10 killed in the crash. The other victims, according to KTLA, were teens Denise Gomez, Jennifer Bonilla, Marisa Serrato, and Adrian Castro (left to right in the top row) and adults Mattison Maywood, Michael Myvett, Arthur Arzola, Tim Evans, and Talalelei Lealao-Taiao (left to right bottom row).
