Joe Plasko aka Mr. Tamaqua

Joe Plasko (Times News)Journalist Joseph M. Plasko, who died March 22, 2011, served as bureau chief, reporter, sportswriter, entertainment writer, photographer and unofficial goodwill ambassador for the Times News in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.

He worked for the newspaper in northeastern Pennsylvania for more than 30 years.

I never knew this man, but I began my newspaper career in the same town and knew a newspaperman there who was similarly devoted to his community. I think it’s what local journalism is all about.
