Over the past year, you may have seen #TeamAlex pop up somewhere in your Facebook or Twitter newsfeeds, maybe alongside #NoOneFightsAlone and photos of people wearing Team Alex T-shirts or dressed all in gray. These messages of support were all inspired by a New Jersey teenager, Alex Munoz, and his battle with cancer. Munoz was diagnosed with brain and spinal cancer, which he fought for 19 months as both a patient and a tireless advocate for medical research. He died this week at 16, according to a post from a Facebook page maintained by his family.
According to his obituary, over $48,000 was raised in Munoz's name for brain cancer research, a number that is likely to rise as his family has requested donations to the Kortney Rose Foundation in his honor instead of flowers. Help keep his legacy of fighting cancer alive, leave your condolences in his Guest Book, and share his story with your own loved ones.
