Ben Van Houten wasn't famous – until his wife gave birth to six babies in 2004, and the sextuplets became the first in Michigan to survive infancy.

Sadly, Van Houten died of a heart attack April 9, 2014, while playing with his famous children.

As reported on mlive.com, the Ottawa County resident was active in his local church and a longtime employee of German safety testing company TUV/SUD.

He had just finished assembling a trampoline for the sextuplets, age 10, and their younger sister, 7, when he collapsed suddenly.

Van Houten, 39, leaves behind his wife Amy and their seven children.
