Virginia Tech: Peace and Healing

Five years ago today, April 16, 2007, tragedy struck in Virginia, reverberating around the nation and the world. A single gunman opened fire at two different locations on the Virginia Tech campus, killing 32 people and wounding 25 others. Almost unprecedented in its scope and horror, the shooting left the campus in deep mourning.
The rest of the nation mourned with them. Legacy.com provided a Guest Book for all victims, as well as individual Guest Books for each of the victims, and we saw a massive outpouring of condolences and support from near and far. Combined, the Guest Books have received more than 50,000 entries.
Today is a day when we remember the lives lost on April 16, 2007. We'd like to do so by sharing the words of just a few of the thousands who stopped to express their condolences in the Guest Books that day.
As a '06 Virginia Tech graduate, I cannot fathom the events that occurred there today. The rather beautiful, tranquil campus will never be the same. To all of the students, teachers and families, my deepest sympathies go to you. Hokies are a proud people who overcome, even in the wake of disaster. Pray and remember all those who were lost and injured on this dark day.

I lift up the family, friends, students and faculty in prayer as this will be a very difficult process. May your strengthen come from your loves ones and God.

As bereaved parents ourselves, we know only too well the pain you are suffering and how hard the future will be for all the parents as they try to learn how to live without their precious child(ren). The entire country mourns with you. We wish you peace, and gentler days. May God comfort you in this time.

I was saddened of the news this morning, so many people affected, this truly is a catastrophic event. In a place that should never see violence like this, In a place where there are so many young bright people trying to better their world as well as ours, my thoughts and prayers go out to the students, staff, and familys of everyone affected by the events of today. I hope you find comfort in the warmth of your family and friends.

I'm a Virginia Tech student from Hickory, NC, and it is just impossible to put into words what we are going through right now. Please keep our campus in your thoughts and prayers.
