Mom Dies Saving Infant Daughter

On Sept. 14, Jessica Arrendale, 33, was shot and killed in her home by her boyfriend during a 13-hour standoff with police that ended with his suicide. Arrendale was interred Sept. 21, but her story continues to develop. New reporting this week revealed that her final act was to save her 6-month-old daughter's life. According to FOX8.com, Arrendale was standing in the bathroom, holding her daughter, and managed to shield her baby with her body before she was shot. Police found the child after the standoff ended. She had a head injury from hitting the toilet before Arrendale was killed, but was otherwise unhurt.

Family and friends are soliciting donations to help provide for Arrendale's children through a GoFundMe site. In addition to her infant, Arrendale is survived by a 15-year-old daughter.
