Back in the days before CDs, MP3s and Internet streaming, we all listened to the radio. We couldn't download a hot new song on demand, so we waited for our favorite disc jockey to play it on our favorite station. DJs had power over what we heard, and they kept us listening with a great music mix and hip patter between songs. Radio DJs were stars – and Casey Kasem, who died June 15, 2014, at 82, was one of the biggest stars of them all.
In Kasem’s honor, we’re flipping through photos of him and some of the others who have brought us great music – from radio jocks to club DJs to the men who hosted our favorite TV dance parties. Click any photo for more information.
