If any sort of radio is playing any sort of classic pop music where you can hear it today, it is highly likely you will hear a song that Hal Blaine is drumming on. As one of the legendary recording-studio musicians known as the Wrecking Crew, Blaine was behind the drums on a stunning number of hit records by the Beach Boys, Elvis Presley, The Byrds, Barbara Streisand, The Ronettes, Frank Sinatra, and so many more. (If you were to count ONLY his No. 1-charting hits, there would be 39 of them.) Blaine, who died March 11, 2019, at the age of 90, played the perfect drum parts for every song — even when it was a "happy accident," like his famous drum line on The Ronettes' classic "Be My Baby." In this video gallery, we take a look and a listen to some of Hal Blaine's best stick work.
