English actor BORIS KARLOFF (1887 - 1969) spent more than a decade working as an extra at Universal before his big break in the 1931 film "Frankenstein." Meanwhile, the Hungarian-born BELA LUGOSI (1882 - 1956) was already a film star in Germany and a star on the Broadway stage when he made his Hollywood debut in "Dracula" that same year.
