Ric Ocasek was the driving force behind the Cars, the legendary new wave/power pop band that created a new pop rock style that electrified the airwaves in the 1970s and 1980s. They perfectly blended futuristic new wave synthesizer sounds with classic melodic guitar rock on memorable songs such as "Just What I Needed," "Moving in Stereo. "Dangerous Type," and "Drive." Ocasek wrote most of their songs and shared lead vocal duties with Benjamin Orr. His songwriting was literate yet accessible, creating the ideal storylines for the band's punchy artistic music. We remember the Cars best songs.
