President Franklin D. Roosevelt said that his mom Sara was "the greatest constant in his life and his biggest supporter." That's no surprise, of course; our parents are a huge influence in who we become as adults. Yet most of us don't know much about the people who raised America's presidents. A peek into history suggests that, frequently, a strong mom has inspired a young future president to overcome the difficulties of an absent or difficult father. On the other hand, sometimes our presidents seek to follow in their fathers' footsteps, as did Donald Trump, who first worked in and then took over his father Fred Trump's real estate company.
