Don Pardo: Voice of Saturday Night

by Legacy Staff

Prolific television announcer Don Pardo was the voice of “Saturday Night Live” for nearly four decades.

Prolific television announcer Don Pardo (1918 – 2014) was the voice of “Saturday Night Live” for its first 39 years (minus the forgettable 1981-82 season).

His golden tones welcomed viewers to the iconic sketch comedy program as well as to game shows such as “The Price Is Right” and “Jeopardy!” At one point in his long career, Pardo also performed announcing duties for the “NBC Nightly News.”

Pardo’s voice is a rich part of TV history, and though he has died, he will be remembered by the generations who listened to what he had to say.

Thank you Don! I took your voice for granted…forgive me! You were a constant in a world that always changed.

—Philip, Viera, Florida
