Kurt Cobain's Indelible Legacy
Kurt Cobain was only 27 when he died April 5, 1994, but the music he created has long outlived him. He became the reluctant voice of a disaffected generation as he brought grunge music to the masses, and he was the ringleader for a shift in youth culture from the slick polish of the 1980s to the casual, do-it-yourself sensibility of the '90s. The music he made with Nirvana has entered the canon of classics, with the seminal Nevermind ranked as the No. 1 album of the '90s by Rolling Stone. On the 20th anniversary of Cobain's death, we remember the few short years when Cobain was on top of the world, as well as the legacy he left behind.
