Thirty years ago today, Natalie Wood died in a mysteriously unsolved drowning accident. Just last week, the long-cold case was reopened, thanks to new evidence from the captain of the ship she was on before her death.
It's not the only reason Natalie Wood has been on our minds lately. This October marked the 50th anniversary of the West Side Story film release, bringing with it nationwide screenings and the debut of a Blu-Ray edition. And James Franco has been filming Rebel, an odd little short that takes its inspiration from Rebel without a Cause. Both films showcased Wood's talent and beauty, and they're both still fantastic movies, all these years later.
We can hope that the renewed investigations of Wood's death will bring a resolution, and some closure to those who loved her. And we can tip our hats to Natalie Wood on the 30th anniversary of her death by watching her classic movies and remembering how she lit up the screen.
