Six Degrees of Tinseltown

Published: 3/27/2013
It was March 27, 2002. Just another ordinary day… until three greats from the entertainment world died. It was a strange coincidence, but it wasn't the only thing that connected these three Tinsel-townies. Each is linked to the other, Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon-style, by just two degrees of separation.

Which three stars pictured above share the same date of death? We'll let you mull it over while you watch clips from the movies that connect them.

Won Ton Ton, the Dog Who Saved Hollywood – starring Madeline Kahn and featuring a cameo from Milton Berle:

The Muppet Movie – with villain Charles Durning and, again, a cameo from Milton Berle (who was, apparently, so famous that he didn't need to take on full roles):

The Front Page – written and directed by Billy Wilder and featuring Charles Durning:

Some Like it Hot – written, directed and produced by Billy Wilder, and starring Tony Curtis (not to mention Jack Lemmon and Marilyn Monroe):

Monte Carlo or Bust! (a.k.a. Those Daring Young Men in Their Jaunty Jalopies) – featuring Tony Curtis and Dudley Moore:

Wholly Moses! – starring Dudley Moore and with a small role for Madeline Kahn:

Have you guessed which three died on March 27, 2002? Here, at last, is the answer you've been waiting for:

Milton Berle (July 12, 1908 – March 27, 2002)

Charles Durning (February 28, 1923 – December 24, 2012)

Billy Wilder (June 22, 1906 – March 27, 2002)

Tony Curtis (June 3, 1925 – September 29, 2010)

Dudley Moore (April 19, 1935 – March 27, 2002)

Madeline Kahn (September 29, 1942 – December 3, 1999)

Pat yourself on the back if you got it right. And take a moment to remember these Hollywood greats.
