Sixteen Elvis Presley songs entered the arena. All were hit singles, all beloved by his fans – but only one could win. Over the course of several rounds in a bracket-style tournament, nearly 7,000 Legacy readers voted on the Elvis songs they love best. The final round closed Wednesday, and today – as we prepare to mark the anniversary of Elvis’ death on Aug. 16, 1977 – we are ready to announce the winner.

Before we reveal the results, let’s have a quick look back at the 16 songs we pitted against each other:

  “Heartbreak Hotel”

  “(You’re the) Devil in Disguise”

  “Don’t Be Cruel”

  “Return to Sender”

  “Hound Dog”

  “Viva Las Vegas”

  “Love Me Tender”

  “Blue Suede Shoes”

  “All Shook Up”

  “A Little Less Conversation”

  “Jailhouse Rock”

  “Suspicious Minds”

  “It’s Now or Never”

  “Burning Love”

  “Are You Lonesome Tonight?”

  “Can’t Help Falling in Love”

It seems nearly impossible to choose a favorite from that rockin’ list, but you voted, and the winner is…

Thanks for voting and helping to choose “Can’t Help Falling in Love” (Blue Hawaii, 1961) as the favorite Elvis song of all time!
