The Soldier and his Bride

Published: 7/1/2011

Nina and Kristopher Watkins (Charlotte Observer)The photo that ran with a story in the Charlotte Observer titled “Nina & Kristopher: A story of great love, great loss” shows the bride leaning over to hug the groom, who is seated and wearing his dress blues.

Before reading the narrative written by Tommy Tomlinson and published June 15, I thought perhaps the groom wasn’t standing because he was in a wheelchair, the result of being wounded in the line of duty.

I also inferred from “great loss” in the title that the soldier might have been crippled or killed in Afghanistan.

The story was unexpected. That’s all I’ll say, other than, “Get out your hankies.” I don’t want to spoil it for you.

Read Nina and Kristopher's story then share your condolences in the Guest Book.
