Steve McQueen Slideshow

Published: 11/6/2013

Steve McQueen was one of those stars we loved to look at. From his earliest roles – TV's Wanted: Dead or Alive and his big-screen breakthrough Never So Few – to his biggest triumphs – iconic movies such as Bullitt and The Great Escape – McQueen captivated audiences whenever he stepped in front of a movie camera. Just as fascinating was his personal life; his love for fast bikes and faster cars, combined with the devil-may-care attitude he projected, made him just about the coolest guy around in the 1960s and '70s.

When McQueen died Nov. 7, 1980 of cardiac arrest shortly after undergoing surgery, he was only 50. We're remembering him with a flashback to the days of his greatest fame. Check out our gallery of McQueen photos, showcasing his life and career, and click any photo for more info.
