Blanche Cerwin Obituary

Blanche Frances Cerwin, born May 18, 1918 in New York City, died at Mayview of Raleigh on Monday, January 7, 2008.
Mrs. Cerwin attended Flower Fifth Avenue Nursing School and graduated in 1942. She was a Nursing Supervisor for a private physician group in New York for 32 years. Mrs. Cerwin then retired and moved to North Carolina in 1977. She was a volunteer at Wake Med for 18 years, with 6,000 hours of service. During this time, she devoted her work primarily to critical care waiting and pediatric intermediate care nursing.
Her son, Kenneth W. Cerwin and her sister, Valerie Jablonsky preceded her in death.
Mrs. Cerwin is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Robert T. Cerwin; her son, Dr. Robert A. Cerwin and his wife, Bonnie, all of Raleigh. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Christina Allen and her husband, William A. Allen, IV; her great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Bronwyn Allen, all of Raleigh; her grandson, R. Alexander Cerwin, Jr. of Houston, TX; and her niece, Barbara Schuldner of Port Washington, NY.
A visitation will be held Thursday, January 10, 2008 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, in the Mordecai Community of Raleigh.
A graveside service will be held Friday, January 11, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. at Historic Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the WakeMed Foundation, 3000 New Bern Avenue Raleigh, NC 27610.
