Brittany Custer Obituary
Brittany was born in Wake County on October 26, 1989 to Walter Craig and Wanda Creech Custer. She graduated from East Wake Academy in 2007 and had just completed her freshman year at East Carolina University. Brittany was an avid dancer, and attended Massey School of Dance for 12 years.
Funeral service 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2008 at Baptist Tabernacle Church, 1599 NC Highway 231, Wendell, NC 27591. Burial, Baptist Tabernacle church cemetery.
Surviving: parents, Walter Craig and Wanda Creech Custer; sister, Brooke Ashley Custer; maternal grandmother, Rochell Creech of Wendell; paternal grandfather, Charles H. Custer of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; aunts, Debbie Kearney and husband, Alan of Youngsville, Sue Custer of Tampa, FL; uncles, Derwin Creech and wife, Faye of Wendell, Charles H. Custer, Jr. and wife, Lynn of Beaufort; cousis, Matthew, Russell, Joanna, Emma, Ethan, Amanda, Amber, Veronica, Julie, Jeffrey.
Brittany was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, L.Z. Creech and her paternal grandmother, Hazel Fulcher Custer.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service and Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545 and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Baptist Tabernacle Church Building Fund, 1599 Highway 231, Wendell, NC 27591.

To The Custer Family:
I want to say I am praying for your family. I met Brittany several times when she was with Tommy (Jamal Thomas El-Ferkh---MY nephew). She was always smiling and was very friendly. I could see why Brittany and Tommy "clicked". It is so very hard to see two young lives taken from us. They were both so loved by everyone they knew. Please know that your family is in our prayers. I heard your sad news today about your daughter Brittany. You and Craig are great parents and I remembered how much you loved your girls. You were a busy mom taking them to practices, school events, etc, . Please know that you and your family are being prayed for and thought of often. Wanda, Craig and Brooke-I received the news of Brittany. No words can express how I felt to hear about the accident. I am thinking of all of you and our whole family. I have been praying for you and just wanted to say to you is just take one day at a time. Sometimes you may feel that you can only go one 1/2 day at a time but that's okay. Dear Custer Family,
Please know that you have been in our prayers over the last few days. Brittany was such a positive role model for young people. After seeing her at EWA and at dance for the past few years, our two girls admired her so much. Dear Craig, Wanda, Brooke, Chuck and family,
I just saw the obituary for Brittany posted in the Carteret News-Times. I was so saddened. I have been reading to find out what happened to your beautiful daughter. I read the news articles as well as Lynn's post. This has been a sad year for your families. One day last year I was visiting the nursing home and saw your mama's name on the door. I went in, told her who I was and we had a nice visit. She showed me all her pictures of her grandchildren. She shared how special and beautiful they were with me. Of course, she did not remember me, I just told her we went to school together. We had a good visit. I wanted to go to the funeral, but it just did not work out for me to be there. All of you were in my thoughts and prayers as you are now. Death is difficult, but the tragedy of an accident, so quick and so young is extremely hard. I think the quotes that Lynn said that Brittany had with you before she left said a lot! Your hearts are broken and only time, precious memories and the Lord can help you begin to heal. Hi. Your family doesn't know me but I talked with Brittany many times at Kerr Drugs when she worked there. She was beautuful, kind, and always so happy and full of life. No words can console you at this time in your lives, with prayer and hope one day you can look back with peace that you brought into this world a child that was loving, caring and beautiful inside and out. She has touched so many lives in her young life time. You will become amazed at how many folks will come up to you and let you know. Of course you already know all of this but you will find comfort knowing others see this too. She will not be forgotten ever. Our hearts and prayers are with all the family at this most sad time. Most folks have not been thru the loss of a child and will not know what to say to you, just know they mean well, forgive them that they are only trying to comfort you in this time of loss. I am so sorry for the loss of Brittany. Our family feels the loss too. We have watched her grow up all of the years. She would just light up the room when she walked in with her big smile because she always smiled. Jessica and I were sitting up talking about them being in Ga's, Youth, Christmas programs at BTC. Jessica was talking about Brittany teaching her to close the Cafe at Kerr Drug, them working together at Mudcats and helping Brittany at Wendell Swim Club. She has really touched Jessica and made a big impact on her life. She has touched a lot of lives and we have nothing but wonderful memories of her.
