Robert Moran Obituary
He was born in Jersey City to Agnes and Jack Moran. Mr. Moran graduated from St. Peter's Prep in 1951 and St. Peter's College in 1955. He was a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Moran has been a resident of Sparta since 1965, and was the chairman of Sparta Day in 1980; the co-chair of the Sparta Summer Concert Series from 1988 to 2001; a member of the Kiwanis; coached girls softball and Little League baseball for his own children and continued to actively coach the youth of Sparta; and was an active member of the senior community at Knoll Heights, where he resided. Mr. Moran will be remembered most recently for his warm greetings while working in Stop and Shop in Sparta.
He was predeceased by his brother, Jack Moran.
Mr. Moran is survived by his son, Terrence Robert Moran; his daughter, Danielle Dykstra; his grandson, Derek Dykstra; his brother, Jim Moran; his nephew, Shaun Moran and his wife, Susan; his niece, Erin Moran; his great-niece, Sadie Moran, and his great-nephew Daniel Moran.
Friends may call on Thursday, July 24, 2008, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta.
A Mass will be held on Friday, July 25, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Sparta. Interment will follow at Sparta Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Moran's memory to a charity of your choice.

T.R...I was saddened to hear the passing of your father. Just thinking about him brings a smile to my face. We had lots of fun together. From my first trip to NYC to see the Harlem Globetrotters to all the sporting events we attended together...I have fond memories of your dad.
