Curtis DeGraw Obituary

DINGMANS FERRY, Pa. - Curtis DeGraw Jr., 76, of Dingmans Ferry, died Monday Aug. 18, 2008, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Franklin, he lived in Sparta most of his life before moving to Dingmans Ferry in 1987. Mr. DeGraw worked in the factory for Lackawanna Leather in Hackettstown and later Middletown Leather in Allentown for 20 years before retiring. After retiring, he and his wife opened Bev's Concrete Ornamentals Garden and Gift Shop in Dingmans Ferry, which they operated for 10 years before retiring. Mr. DeGraw enjoyed hunting, fishing and his garden.

A son of the late Curtis Sr. and Dorothy Mackerly DeGraw, Mr. DeGraw is also predeceased by a son, Warren Curtis DeGraw, in 1959; a brother, Emerson "Sonny" DeGraw, in 2007; and a son-in-law, Barrett "Bucky" Henderson, in 2004.

He is survived his wife of 51 years, Beverly Ann Beatty DeGraw; his six children, Patricia Henderson of Dingmans Ferry, John DeGraw and his wife, Katherine, of Sparta, Connie DeGraw Campbell of Dingmans Ferry, Michael DeGraw and his wife, Ann, of Three Rivers, Mich.. Curtis DeGraw III and his wife, Theresa, of Newport News, Va., and April DeGraw of Dingmans Ferry. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert DeGraw of Sparrowbrush, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials in his name to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Ave., Newton, NJ 07860, would be greatly appreciated.
