Michael Svecz Obituary

FRANKLIN - Michael Joseph Svecz, 89, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2008, in Mountainside Hospital, Glen Ridge.

A native of Franklin, he was the son of the late Paul and Elizabeth Swetz. He was a graduate of Franklin High School. In World War II he was a Tech. Sgt. specializing in radar and navigation mechanics for Squadron B, 592 D Air Force based in England, seeing action in the Ardennes, central Europe, Normandy, northern France and the Rhineland. He was awarded European, African and Middle Eastern service medals and good conduct medal. After the war, he joined Aramco, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, where he worked almost 30 years. An avid golfer, he returned to Seminole, Fla., and returned to New Jersey in March.

He was predeceased by his sister Betty and brother Edward.

He is survived by two daughters, Rev. Carol Elizabeth Svecz in Delaware and C. Jeanne Wilson of Bloomfield; his granddaughter Valancy "Lacy" Wilson of Bloomfield; two sisters, Rosemary Tippett of Clifton and Helen Fletcher and her husband, Charles, of Fredon; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was interred during a private family service in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Franklin.
