Floyd Storms Obituary

Floyd C. Storms HAMBURG - Floyd C. Storms, 82, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at his residence in Hamburg. Mr. Storms was born in Vernon Feb. 13, 1926, the son of Clarence and Grace Jennings Storms. He was raised in Vernon and spent most of his life living in Hamburg. He was the owner of the former Storms Modern Gas of Hamburg and retired from Farrellgas of Franklin in 1991. Mr. Storms was a member of the Jersey Mountain Boys Bluegrass Band. He was the recipient of a Bravery Award from Hamburg Fire Department and Hamburg Borough and received a letter from President Reagan in 1984 for saving the life of a baby in a house fire. He was also a U.S. Army World WarII veteran. Mr. Storms was predeceased by his wife, Virginia J. Storms, in 2005. He is survived by his children, Kathy Boerner and her husband, Toby, of Vernon, Lorelei Henderson of Unionville, N.Y., Floyd Storms Jr. and his wife, Denise, of Ogdensburg, Randall Storms and Theresa of Hamburg, and Patricia Storms and Ryan of Wantage; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, Stephanie, Stacie, Melissa and Meghan; great grandsons Mattison, Benjamin and Nicholas; a sister, Lois Kabatra of Franklin, and a brother, Carl Storms of Pennsylvania. The family would like to invite friends and relatives to join them in a celebration of Mr. Storms' life at the Lamp Post Inn Restaurant, 1601 Route 565, Vernon, on Tuesday from 1-4 p.m. Private cremation arrangements are under the direction of F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, 1 Main St., Franklin. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Ave., Newton, NJ 07860.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Floyd. My connection to Floyd was through our connection to Aunt Blanche and Uncle Floyd Jennings. His wife, Virginia, was a cousin of mine.
