George Horsfield Obituary

ELMIRA, N.Y. - George Richard "Dick" Horsfield, 79, formerly of Lawrenceville, Pa., died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center.

Dick was born in Franklin on Dec. 18, 1928, to Harry and Margaret Cosh Horsfield. He served his country in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He married Marie Bocchino on Oct. 12, 1969 in Newton. He was the former owner of Sussex County Fire and Safety in Newton. He was retired from Dresser-Rand, Painted Post, in 1994, where he had worked as an expediter. He was fire chief of the Sparta Fire Department and belonged to the Newton Fire Department. He was a Yankees fan, and loved farming and woodworking. He was a member of the Christian Hope Center.

Mr. Horsfield is survived by his wife, Marie; two daughters, Betti Jo Bohus and her husband, Robert, of Inkom, Idaho, and Kim Angle and her husband, Jim, of Utica, N.Y.; two sons, Michael Dianella of San Francisco, Calif. and William Dianella and his wife, Jean, of Lafayette; a sister, Clarice Edison of Newton; four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were handled by the Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning, with the Rev. David Hackett officiating. Burial will be in Bath National Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed in Dick's name to the food pantry at the Christian Hope Center, 22 John St., Painted Post, N.Y. 14870.
