Kathleen Casper Obituary

STILLWATER - Kathleen Claire Casper, 75, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2008, at home. Born in Jersey City, Mrs. Casper grew up in Allentown, Pa., then lived in Matawan for 25 years before moving to Stillwater in 1993. She was a cafeteria cashier at the Green Township School for 11 years before her retirement this summer.

She had previously worked for Father Steve Ryan at Camp Don Bosco for three years. An active member of the Catholic Daughters in Matawan for more than 50 years, Mrs. Casper was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Church in Swartswood, where she was active in Gifts of Grace. She was also an avid New York Yankees fan.

The daughter of the late Robert H. and Kathleen C. Gifford, Mrs. Casper was also predeceased by her husband, Louis S. Casper, on Oct. 5, 1987.

She is survived by three sons, Louis J. Casper and his wife, Robin, of Stillwater, Robert G. Casper and his wife, Kathleen A., of Middletown, and Stephen C. Casper of Middletown; six grandchildren, Louis R. Casper, Megan A. Casper, Robert G. Casper, Jr., Joseph J. Casper, Adrian S. Casper and Georgeanne R. Casper; one great-grandchild, Tyler James Casper; and three brothers, Robert G. Gifford of Allentown, Pa., Charles B. Gifford of Las Vegas, Nev., and Joseph L. Gifford of Tarpon Springs, Fla.

Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Friday at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Church in Swartswood. Visitation will be held Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
