Dorothy Eisiminger Obituary

TUCSON, Ariz. - Dorothy Virginia Alford Eisiminger, 88, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008 at the Santa Catalina Villas in Tucson. Born June 1, 1920, she was the daughter of Seals and Lena Alford of Columbus, Ga.

Dorothy graduated from Jordan Industrial High School in 1939 and attended Georgia State College for Women from 1939 to 1940. She married Lt. Sterling "Butch" Eisiminger on Feb. 22, 1941 in Auburn, Ala. A long-time member of the United Methodist Church, she and Butch survived two wars and then traveled the world, moving some 45 times. A devoted wife and homemaker, she was passionate about tole painting, decoupage, sewing and antiquing.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband; her three children, Sterling "Skip" Eisiminger of Clemson, S.C., Virginia Kay Wroldsen of Tucson, and Karen "Kem" Monk of Stillwater; six grandchildren, Shane Eisiminger, Anja Fraiser, John Wroldsen, Karen Maloney, and Ty and Trevor Monk. She also had five great-grandchildren, Sterling and Edgar Eisiminger, Spencer Watson, and Moraia and Johan Wroldsen. Dorothy is also survived by her brother, Ted Alford, of Columbus, Ga.

Services will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at St. John's United Methodist Church, 5312 Backlick Road, Springfield, Va. Viewing will be from 10 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. The funeral procession toArlington National Cemetery begins at noon, with interment at 1 p.m. Dorothy's younger daughter, the Rev. Kem Monk of Harmony Hill United Methodist Church, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be sent in memory of Dottie to Harmony Hill United Methodist Church, Box 115, Stillwater, NJ 07875.
