Bernadette Nolan Obituary
The singer's management agency, Urban Associates, said in a statement that Nolan died Thursday surrounded by her family.
Universally known as Bernie, Nolan was raised in Blackpool, northwestern England, and began performing with her family when she was a child.
The Nolans had a worldwide hit in 1979 with "I'm In the Mood For Dancing" and gained large followings from Britain to Japan.
Nolan left in 1994 to focus on an acting career that included a role on soap opera "Brookside" and parts in stage musicals including "Blood Brothers" and "Chicago."
In 2010 she was diagnosed with breast cancer, which later spread.
Nolan is survived by her husband, Steve Doneathy, and their daughter, Erin.

Bernie a year as nearly passed since you were sent to heaven. I still play the Nolans songs as I will never stop playing them. I cannot believe it as been a year since you went away to heaven. I hope you are still keeping them dancing and singing in heaven with all the other legends. God bless your daughter and husband and god bless your sisters. I am hoping that one day all your five sisters will do a tribute concert for you as you deserve to be remembered as a legend.

Well Bernie it has been 4 months now since you have passed away. I am playing your CD of All by myself. As you were my inspiration to sing. You were my favourite Nolan sister then it was Colleen and then the rest of the sisters, but you were the best one. I hope you are still singing in heaven with all the other legends up there. I will never forget you and I hope one day your sisters will do a tribute concert for you as you deserve that as you were the greatest female singer in the whole wide world. Rest now and carry on singing and never stop up there in heaven.

Saw the Nolans in 1979 for the first time. Excellent, so had to go again several times, will always love and play their music. Bertie was my favourite, sad news but the music will last forever. While there are videos and DVDs, she will always be alive.

2011 i lost my dad to MND, 2012 lost my mum to a stroke, 2013, lost one of my favourite sisters Bernie. I have been a big fan of The Brilliant Nolans, all my life, and followed you all over the uk on all your tours. Bernie you will be sadly missed, by all you fans, and more importantly, your husband, your daughter, and all of your family. Ive met Bernie many times, she was always pleasant to me, and happy to see me every time i saw her. I always felt privlaged for her to even remembered and acknowledge me. I will be one of many fans lining the street, for Bernie's funeral, and i know ill shed many more tears. Then i will go to the church and light a candle for Bernie. R:I:P Bernie.
