“After a long period of sobriety, Charles Henry Mosley III lost his life, on November 9th, 2017, due to the disease of addiction. We’re sharing the manner in which he passed, in the hopes that it might serve as a warning or wake up call or beacon to anyone else struggling to fight for sobriety. He is survived by long-term partner Pip Logan, two daughters, Erica and Sophie and his grandson Wolfgang Logan Mosley,” his family wrote in their official statement. He was 57.

Chuck Mosley, was a musician, best known as frontman of the eclectic rock band Faith No More from 1985 to 1988. He was lead vocalist and a driving creative force behind the band’s first two albums, “We Care a Lot” and “Introduce Yourself.”

He co-wrote and sang the original version of the anti-anthem, “We Care a Lot,” a satirical critique of socially conscious posturing in mainstream rock during the 1980s. The song became an underground hit and remains a popular staple of Faith No More’s live performances.

Friction within the group led to Mosley’s ejection in 1988. Faith No More went on to achieve platinum-selling success with new vocalist Mike Patton. Legal disputes about Mosley’s partnership status with the band followed, but were resolved with a settlement.

Mosley continued his music career, fronting hardcore punk band Bad Brains from 1990 – 1992, then forming his own funk metal band, Cement.

In recent years he had become active in music again as a solo artist, and performed with Faith No More at some concerts.

“He was a reckless and caterwauling force of energy who delivered with conviction and helped set us on a track of uniqueness and originality that would not have developed the way it had had he not been a part,” the band said in a statement released after Mosley’s death. “We were a family, an odd and dysfunctional family, and we’ll be forever grateful for the time we shared with Chuck.”
