David Margulies

David Margulies, the actor who had supporting roles in the film "Ghostbusters" and on TV's "The Sopranos," has died at 78, his agent, Harry Abrams, confirmed, according to CNN.

Margulies was born in Brooklyn, New York, and graduated from City College of New York. After graduating, he made his stage debut in the off-Broadway play "Golden 6." His first Broadway appearance was in the 1973 revival of "The Iceman Cometh." He later appeared in Neil Simon's "Brighton Beach Memoirs"and Tony Kushner's "Angels In America."br>
His most recent appearance on Broadway was in a 2003 revival of the musical "Wonderful Town."

He may be remembered best for his role in 1984's "Ghostbusters," in which he played the mayor of New York. He played the same role in the 1989 "Ghostbusters" sequel.

Some of his other movie appearances included "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective," "Brighton Beach Memoirs" and "A Most Violent Year."

He had many recognizable roles on popular TV shows including "The Sopranos," where he played Tony Soprano's lawyer, Neil Mink. He also appeared on "Northern Exposure," "Law and Order," and "The Good Wife."

Margulies was cast as the Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel in the upcoming ABC TV movie "Madoff," which will star Richard Dreyfus as Bernie Madoff.
