The unque thing about Deacons inspiration in my life, is that my junior high school coach use to call me " Deacon" and he would yell " Deacon show em how to hit that sled, show em how to make a tackle". Then in 9th grade 67 I looked him up. I'm proud he was my role model.

Deacon Jones, was the only pro football player I have ever known personly. I last talked with Deacon on FAMU campus 1974. Decon played at Hungerford High with my cusin Ben Lampkin, QB. Had there never been a Deacon Jones, The NFL, would not be the game it is today. Decon Jones, is responsible for A number of rules that The NBA put in place to give the other team hope of knowing how to deal with the defensive end who wrote the book. RIP

Well Deacon you have gone to join Judson Jones your brother.Mama Lene,.Mother Dear and Adeline Lois are there to greet you. I'll never forget in 1967 when the Rams played the Falcons in Atlanta, and you came to Spelman College in a Limo, picked me up and took me to Morehouse's homecoming. Then you took about 50 of us out to eat. You were always the best to me, always that famous smile a big hug and a kiss especially for me. You will always be a Fearsome Foursome in my book. Tell Lamar what'sup, he and I shared a birthday. Big ups to Merlin too. Your niece with love, love, Cindy Ann Walton Henry

Deacon Jones was a star with the Rams when I was in my teens. He was my favorite player and he was a phenomenon. In full football gear (not shorts and track shoes) he was as fast or faster than any other player. He was a pass rushing terror, and better than that...he was a GREAT human being. I hope to meet him face to face in heaven one day. RIP my football hero.

IT IS SAD TO LOSE ANOTHER FOOTBALL GREAT AS DAVID "DEACON" JONES. I REMEMBER THE NAME QUITE WELL WHEN HE AND HIS MURDER'S ROW, ALL FOUR OF THEM, ROSIE GRIER, MERLIN OLSEN, AND MEMORY ESCAPES THE FOURTH GENTLEMAN, I THINK HIS NAME WAS LINDY, OR LUNDY, ANYWAY, THEY WERE A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH!
I THINK DEACON PLAYED WITH THE RAMS, MAINLY, AND TWO OTHER TEAMS. WISH HE COULD HAVE PLAYED FOR THE COWBOYS, THEY COULD USE THE HELP. BUT DEACON WAS A CLASS ACT, AND TAKEN TOO SOON, ONLY 74-YEARS-OLD! GUESS GOD AND JESUS WANTED A GREAT FOOTBALL PLAYER IN HEAVEN WITH THEM, THEY GOT ONE OF THE BEST! DEACON,
YOU WON'T EVER BE FORGOTTEN!

Guess Heaven could wait no longer for Deacon. Really enjoyed him in the movie and watching him as part of the "Fearson Foursom" on the football field. Was glad that he finished his career with Allen in Washington as part of the "Over the Hill Gang".
He was a very tallented player and deserving Hall of Famer. Pure Class on and off the field. Sure Lamar (Lundy), Merlin (Olsen) and George (Allen) there to greet you at the gate. Thoughts go out to the family. RIP
