My father was a prisoner in Stalag Lufthansa 3 also. He was a Yank USAF navigator and shot from the sky on February 4, 1943. Most dont know that the Americans were separated from the British before the actual Great Escape. RIP Mr Churchill as you go to meet your comrades who went before you.

Can any of us even imagine what these brave young men went through, these heroes of the "Greatest Generation." They took on the fight to bring freedom to those in peril. And many paid the dearest of prices. May you be met at heavens' door by all of your brothers in arms. Thank you for your bravery and courage. YOU are a true hero!

Dick Churchill was one of a group of daring,brave, and dedicated military men who stand vs their German captors was inspiring and brilliantly executed ,though all but three were re-captured and faced death for their escaping their German POW camp in 1944!

A true hero to the United Kingdom, a true hero to America, a true hero to the entire world, Mr. Churchhill and all of the WW II prisoners cannot be thanked enough by all of us for their bravery and sacrifice. It is because of men and women like him that we enjoy the freedoms that we have today. They are/were definitely the Greatest Generation and need to be remembered, recognized and forever honored as such. God rest your soul, Mr Churchill, and the souls of all your comrades for eternity. We will not forget!
