Dick Jones Obituary
His son Rick Jones tells the Los Angeles Times (http://lat.ms/1o7Wv59 ) his father died Monday after a fall at home. The cause hasn't been determined.
Dick Jones was just 10 years old but already had appeared in nearly 40 movies when he got the part of Pinocchio.
The son of a Texas newspaper editor, he learned to ride and rope from an early age and had a Western show career by age 4.
Other roles included Henry Aldrich on the radio show "The Aldrich Family," and parts in movies such as "Destry Rides Again" and "Stella Dallas." In the 1950s he had roles in TV Westerns, including the lead in "Buffalo Bill, Jr."

Jesus expressed tears when his friend Lazarus died, he knows how it feels to lose a dead loved one and he understands what you and your family are experiencing. My husband and I "discovered" Mr. Jones only in the last year, when our local station started running The Range Rider and Buffalo Bill Junior. We were mesmerized. Your father was the most talented and true actor. He was someone we could admire, and he was so talented. We cannot say enough about his talent, but aldso his true being seemed to shine through. He seems to have been a very geniune person. We are so very sorry for your loss, but there are literally millions of people to whom he was very very special, and we hope that is a comfort.

I am so thankful to Mr. Jones and other actors for entertaining me with their western series back in the 1950's when we had quality TV shows. I couldn't wait for Saturday morning so I could watch Buffalo Bill Jr.. Loved watching him fight the bad guys and riding his horse while shooting his 45. Also loved the Range Rider and the Gene Autry shows with Dick Jones in them. RIP Dick Jones.

I enjoyed watching Dick Jones in everything from "The Range Rider" and "Buffalo Bill, Jr." to his performances alongside Jimmy Stewart and Errol Flynn. With his terrific comedic timing and amazing athletic abilities, he was a joy to watch onscreen. My condolences to the Jones family.

I believe he was the one who played Dick West in the Range Rider. If so, he was my hero during my teenage years. I watched him every week. He played with Jock Mahoney. I always wondered where he was now. I am so sorry for your loss, Rick.

My son, who is now 42, was a small child when Pinocchio was re-released. I took him to see it and all he could talk about was Pi-oki-oki. Thank you for giving my son, and so many many more, such a wonderful experience and warm memories.
