Fran Warren Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 19, 2013.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Fran Warren, whose 1947 recording of "A Sunday Kind of Love" was one of the classic hits of the big band era, has died.

Alan Eichler, a spokesman for the singer-actress, said Tuesday that Warren died March 4 of natural causes at her home in Brookfield, Connecticut. She was 87.

Warren's career spanned more than 50 years with hits that included the Tony Martin duet "I Said My Pajamas (and Put On My Prayers)," the Lisa Kirk duet "Dearie" and "It's Anybody's Heart." Her films roles included "Abbott and Costello Meet Captain Kidd."

She frequently appeared and performed on the talk shows of Johnny Carson, Mike Douglas, Merv Griffin and Steve Allen.

Warren is survived by two daughters, a son-in-law and two nieces.

Ms. Warren lived a long, full life. May we, too, make the most of our lives before the "calamitous days" of old age come:
"Before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars grow dark...(Bad vision) in the days when the keepers of the house tremble (Trembling hands) and the men of vital energy have bent themselves (Unstable knees), and the grinding women have quit working because they have become few (Missing teeth) and the ladies seeing at the window have found it dark (Poor eyesight) and the doors onto the street have been closed (Difficulty walking), when the sound of the grinding mill becomes low (Hard of hearing), and one gets up at the sound of a bird (Trouble sleeping), and all the daughters of song sound low (Hard of hearing). Also they have become afraid merely at what is high (Difficulty climbing) and there are terrors in the way (Obstacles, difficult mobility)...because man is walking to his long-lasting house (The grave) and the wailers have marched around in the street. (Funeral procession)." Ecclesiastes 12:1-7

So, how should we live before the days of old age come? "Remember, NOW, your Grand Creator in the days of your young manhood, before the calamitous days proceed to come." Ecclesiastes 12:1
