During Desert Storm I was working the port and Class V operations at al Jubayl when General Schwarzkopf came to visit. I have never seen such appreciation and admiration for a commander. And of all the officers I have known, none was as much admired as General Schwarzkopf. His place in history, and in our hearts, is assured.

I was a soldier during the Gulf War in the "Sand Box" supporting the 2ACR as a communication specialist team Leader. I never felt more confident when I knew the Bear was in charge I could feel eminent victory which embolden me to be the best at what I did. Thanks Gen. Schwarzkopp. Now I am more confident of the following words: He will render judgment among the nations and set matters straight respecting many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, nor will they learn war anymore. (Isaiah 2:4). This was a very brave person who loved life and loved us all by multiple selfless acts during a rich lifetime helping others. Coming in the near future many will reap the rewards of a peaceful new world God has promised. 2 Peter 3:13.

I was an MP NCO stationed in Mainz FRG in 1980. He was the community commander. I got to speak with him on several occasions. One day he asked me if there was anything he could do for us MP's. I told him we were only issued 1 magazine for our pistols. On Monday when we arrived at the PMO we were issued 3 magazines. I also served as one of his body guards when the Pope was at Finthen Army Air Field in 1980. He was a Great General and I would have followed Him to the gates of hell.

My grandson graduated from West Point in 2006 and I was so proud to learn that Gen. Schwarzkopf would be there that week and so very proud when he presented the lt. bars and shook his hand. My grandson then ran up to the stands where we sat and said " Here Granny, this is the hand that just shook with the Pres. and the Gen. Schwarzkopf." He knew that I loved and admired the Gen. after reading his book. He had more stars in his crown than he wore on his shoulder. I am sure he is finding his well deserved peace in Heaven.

I am just an American citizen. I didn't serve with the General or anything, but when I heard of his death, I felt the country had lost one of the Best. My heart was broken. He was atrue patriot. My heart is still heavy over his loss and I send my sympathy to the family. The only thing I can say is, it is our great loss, but God's gain at having such a man as Gen. Schwarzkopf to be a part of His kindgom. I know God was happy to Welcome Such a Fine Man. I am heartbroken, but you must be moreso, just know that he truly is in the presence of the Lord. My sympathies to all of the family. Just know, you will be with him again.

The United States has lost a great advocate, a great friend, and a great man. We were all was very sad to learn of his death. This special man will always be remembered by the family of my father who has since passed away, James W. Hicks. To us, "Stormin Norman" was a Gentle Bear who was very well loved. We are so appreciative of his efforts and very grateful to him for his service. May God Bless him in Heaven and reward him for all of his efforts to bring peace to a horrendous world. From our family Bea Hicks and the girls; God Bless you Brenda and your family, we wish for God to be at your side. May your future be bright and happy and know that he is in a wonderful loving environment and well taken care of, in Christ's hands. May God Bless your Entire Family and their future.

My heart is broken. Our General, and the greatest hero of our time has passed, never to be replaced. I'm a calligrapher & during the end of the Gulf War I lettered the General's favorite song "I'm Proud to be an American", framed it and sent it to him. He responded within three days & said he would find a prominent place in his home for it. Everytime I hear this song I will always think of the General. It is who he was. My sincere condolences to his wife, children and the rest of his family. He will never be forgotten. God Bless.

Brenda,
Our prayers are with you and your children during this difficult time. Norm was a great boss and mentor but an even better friend. I will always remember our fishing hunting and skiing adventures in Alaska and Virginia. You always knew where you stood with your husband and what he was going to love or hate. If it was good for the troops he was always on board.
We will miss him.

Brenda, I just finished speaking with you on the phone. Karen and I called to see how you were holding up. We love You and The General and will miss him so very much. Our friendship is 21 years old and we always so looked forward to visiting with You and The General around Christmas every year. Our visit next year just won't be the same without Him there. I am posting a picture from a few years ago of You and The General when Leo decided that he wanted to be in the picture. It is wonderful to see You Both holding each other and laughing because Leo decided that this picture was not going to happen without him being in it. Karen and I Love you and will see you soon. Much Love And Respect Vinnie and Karen.

To the Schwarzkopf family, my deepest condolence. I served the General in Desert Storm, I would loved him as my commander, as a honorable man and patriot. I still have the recorded message from Brenda, on behalf of the General to me about signing my book. In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it's the memories of you that are the most precious.
