Jean Darling Obituary
Darling's son Roy Hamilton-Bowen said Tuesday that his mother died Friday in Rodermark, Germany, after a sudden illness.
Darling appeared in the "Our Gang" series between 1927 and 1929, when the short films began incorporating sound into the productions. Darling also appeared in the original Broadway run of "Carousel" and later starred as Aunt Poppy in children's programming on Ireland's RTE radio and television broadcasts.
Hamilton-Bowen says his mother remained active up until her death and had recently finished a crime novel.
Darling was born Dorothy Jean LeVake in Santa Monica, California, in August 1922. Her son said the precise date is unknown because a fire destroyed her birth records.

To the son and all of The Darling family and friends. I used to watch The Little Rascals and I loved that show. I'm sorry to hear of your loved one's death. I know you must be experiencing great sadness right now but, I hope that you gain some comfort in the
knowledge that Luke 20:38 holds out. Miss Darling though you may be missing her right now is very much alive in God's memory.

My parents grew up with the "Our Gang" comedies and we did,too,watching them on Saturday mornings. I loved the characters because they were like us, the kind of kids you wanted to live next door! May Ms Darling rest in peace and be reunited with her friends. Thank you for the great memories and may God keep you in his care.

As the widow of Joel Towler, who considered Jean a dear friend, I was saddened to learn of her passing. Jean and Joel enjoyed a warm relationship for many years through postal mail and e-mail correspondence. My sincere condolences to Jean's family and friends.
