Minnie Neuwirth

Minnie Neuwirth (née Ptaszek), 83, died on Friday, Jan. 21, in the Jewish Home at Rockleigh.

Mrs. Neuwirth was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. She lived in Baldwin, N.Y., and Bloomfield, moving to the Jewish Home Assisted Living, River Vale, three years ago. She graduated from Brooklyn College, Brooklyn, N.Y., where she received her degree in education. She was an elementary school teacher for the New York City Board of Education for about 20 years, retiring 20 years ago.

She was a life member of Hadassah, a member of the South Baldwin, N.Y., Jewish Center and its Sisterhood, Congregation Shomrei Emunah of Montclair, and The Israel Congregation of Manchester, Vt.

Mrs. Neuwirth was survived by her husband, David Neuwirth, who then died on Jan. 26; two daughters, Sherri Neuwirth of Montclair, and Jackie Borella and husband Robert; a sister, Arlene Halfon; and four grandchildren, Brittany and Faryn Borella, and Brett and Brianna Neuwirth.

Services were held on Jan. 24, in Jewish Memorial Chapel, Clifton. Interment was at Hungarian Union Fields Cemetery, Glendale, N.Y.
