Telly Savalas: Who Loves Ya, Baby?
1/21/2012
Born 90 years ago today, Telly Savalas was best known for an iconic television role – and rightly so. He was Kojak to a tee, from his bald head to his lollipops to his trademark line, "Who loves ya, baby?"
But Telly Savalas was much more than just a TV detective, as great as that detective was. He had a long-lasting movie career too, often playing memorable villains – like Ernst Stavro Blofeld in the James Bond film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service."
But that's not all. Savalas had a successful – if somewhat odd – musical career as well. His spoken-word cover of Bread's "If" spent 10 weeks at No. 1 in Europe in 1975, thanks to his deep, rich voice.
A man of many talents, Telly Savalas has been deeply missed since his 1994 death. Who loves ya, baby? We do.
