I had the pleasure of seeing TVOTR in Scotland at T in the Park in 2009 and bought the ticket and flight expressly to see them and a handful of others. When they came on stage, there was so much happiness and joy coming from each member held together by the tightest groove! You were a fantastic musician and I and many others will miss seeing you smile on stage. With much love and memories of laughter... Moji

Gerard was also loved as a local father. He was a lovely father to his cute son Julian who is three. They could be seen around our brooklyn neighborhood together, flying kites on the waterfront and planting seeds in the community garden. Blessings on little Jules and on the family.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the family of Gerard Smith. Death is an enemy and it affects us all. May you draw comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering and that he is now in God's memory. Please allow yourself to grieve and let others be there for you. Above all else please draw comfort and closeness from God and his word the Bible. I know from personal experience, that he will see you through. One of my favorite scriptures is 2Corintians 1:3,4 about God being a God of comfort. Take care of one another.

Gerard was dear friend who opened his home to me when I was a young man, nourished my soul with art, music and Roti King. He had great impact on my life before his heydays with TVOTR- One of his paintings has adorned my walls for over fifteen years. When we were young men, our dreams were of making art that inspired others, of having impact on this world. To see the things he has accomplished with his life truly warms my heart.
I knew Gerard as a thoughtful, intense, and just young man. He had a big heart and a giant mind. He had integrity and humility. I only wish I could've truly thanked him for everything he did for me.
I love you, brother-
and miss you always.
Rest In Peace

• It is with deep sadness that I express my sincere condolences for such a 'young ‘ person. Nothing words can say, nothing friends can do, can make up for the loss of a love one. May your complete reliance upon "the God of comfort"(2Corinthians 1:3,4) as well as the precious memories of your Geerard's smile, hislaughter, his caring and the love he shared with you help you to endure. I did not personally know Gerard, I read his obituary and hoped it might bring you a measure of comfort knowing that others care. I am praying for you.
so sorrry may he rest !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
