John R. (Jack) Sanderl
Coldbrook
John R. (Jack) Sanderl, 80, formerly of Guilderland, passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on August 20, 2010, after a long illness. Jack was born on May 11, 1930, in Utica, the son of Raymond and Anna (Luebbert) Sanderl. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Upon his honorable discharge, he started work for AT&T and worked there his entire career, retiring as Network Manager for the Northeast. He was an avid golfer. Jack's life centered around his family. He spent many happy times with them at his camp on Hinckley Lake. Jack considered himself "the luckiest man alive". Jack is survived by his wife of 55 years, the love of his life, Dasie (Woods); five children and their spouses, Raymond, of Coldbrook, Gregory (and Kim) Sanderl, of Poestenkill, Jeanne (and Tom) Owens, of Coldbrook, Kathleen (and Michael) Gray, of Delmar, and Lisa (and Paul) Wormsbecher, of Apex, NC; six grandchildren, Aric, Kurt, and Anna Wormsbecher, Laura, McKinley and Natalie Gray; one great-grandchild, Kyla Wormsbecher; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Junior (McKinley) Woods; his brother-in-law, Robert Spring; many nieces and nephews; "The Cousins"; and his large extended family. He was fortunate to have two close friends, Don Murnane and Jack Ryan, of Utica. Jack will be greatly missed by all who loved him. He was a good man. Jack was predeceased by all his siblings and their spouses, Jane and Russell Corn, Dorothy and Al Weaver, Robert and Jane Sanderl and Marilyn and Peter Ambrose. There is a great reunion going on in Heaven. The family is cutting the cards, cracking open beers and having a grand old time. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday from 5-8 p.m. at Myslinski Funeral Home, 470 French Rd., Utica. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. from the funeral home and 11:00 a.m. from the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. Jack's family would like to extend special gratitude to his caregivers, Susan Fitzgerald-Calkin, Nellie Jackson, Mary Kessler, and to Sunset Nursing Home and its staff, for the kindness extended to both Jack and his family. Aunt Daisy, Ray, Gregg, Jeanne, Kathleen, and Lisa, I am sorry for your loss deeply. I have nothing but happy and fun memories for your husband, dad, and my "uncle Jack." He was surrounded by a wonderful loving family here on earth and certainly has good company in his place in heaven. Truly one of the most loved and remembered people in my life, he always took care of me. God Bless you all.
