Toutes nos condoléances aux proches de Pat! I met him in the early 80's in Mont-Cascades, while he was with the Gatineau PD. He really impressed me as a solid, personable, thoughtful and competent person. He really stood out amongst his police peers and did a great job. Amazing hockey career too. I can just see him coaching the "hockey angels", young and old. God speed, Pat!

The passing of Pat Burns has certainly hit a soft spot for me as I read the morning paper and watch the NHL tribute on NHL.COM. Today is a tough day for all hockey enthusiasts. It is apparent that Pat has had his share of tough days. Although I have never met Pat personally he is what we would like to be, renowned for being a tough leader and respected for it. As we all live through our favorite teams on the ice we connect with players that gives us the drive to cheer on our club. Rarely do you see that same connection with a coach, except for Pat. For more than 26 years, Pat has been the inspiration and drive of our inner voice as we cheer or scream at our players and teams to do better. Pat’s courage and will to take on the challenges in front of him as he has always done will endeavor me (us) to be what we all would like to be , “Champions”. God Bless you Pat.
November 20, 2010
My thoughts and prayers are with the Burns Family in their time of grief. At times like these, "God is near to those that are broken at heart; And those crushed in spirit he saves." (Psalm 34:18) I hope this will bring the family a measure of comfort.
