He was my Great Grand Father. I never got to meet him, I wish I could. My mom and I went to 2 house he built, where my Great Grandma lived, but sadly she just moved. I have heard so many great stories and things about him. I am 8 years old right now. I wish he was still alive to be my teacher because I really love math.

Sleep eluded me this evening and thus I went to Facebook wondering about the Engbrecht's and hence I learned that Mr. Engbrecht had passed a year ago. I don't have a lot of stories all I know for me is that he had a gift for teaching. He was may math teacher at E.V. Cain. I never cared for math, but somehow he made it interesting. His skill at teaching inspired me to become one also. I always felt comfortable and smart around him, even though I was just your average kid. In later years I grew to know the family. He will be missed and I am sure is missed my many. Sympathies to all the family.

As I was mixing and pouring concrete, I thought how often my Dad had done the same. My memories of him are mostly while working. While rather young, he would take me, no not hunting, fishing, or camping, but to the job. This may have been building a spec. home, or paving the Whitmore maintenance yard, or forming up and tying rebar to build the Placer Co. Auditor's vault. His accomplishments are many and varied. Leaving the Air Force after ten years, as a Second Lt., he earned teaching credentials. He taught Math and English at Sierra College and at least 13 years at E.V. Cain Elementary. During retirement, he built Assembly Tool Service, repairing and selling tools for the electronics industry. Being born in 1926, the shadow of the Depression left its mark on my Dad. He never saw an old pipe (metal or pvc), twisted piece of lumber, old window, or a dried up paint can that might have future value. He fathered four children, built many homes, as well, as improved the ones we lived in. He maintained a private pilot's license, drove truck, worked as a welder in the ship yards, college professor, fairly good mechanic, and could fix just about everything. He loved the Opra and played Trombone in a Jazz Band. He made his own wine and when we were young, he made home-made ice cream and root beer we bottled ourselves. My Brother, at age 15, bought a Honda 50. My Father disassembled and rebuilt it for him as I watched. We named this bike, Stinky. A couple years later, my Father purchased a brand new 1968 Honda CB-350. My Brother and I taught my Dad how to ride at the Auburn Fairgrounds when He was 42 years old. There is no need to relate all the struggles my Father had, both external and internal. All my life, He was there to pick up the pieces of which I made many. He helped me through many dark times and was also the cause of some. He showed His love for His family by always being there to help. At 65 years old, we worked together on the foundation of my house and fix the contractor's mistakes. To me, He went down hill quickly, but I was not there daily. He didn't live to the age His father did, nor do I feel I will live to the age He did. Despite His faults, I will miss Him greatly! He claimed Christ as Savior and my hope is to be united with Him forever with all tears and sorrows wiped away. Good bye for now, DAD. Love Keith

I hope I have the correct man. Our deepest sympathy goes out to your family. He will be missed at out Placer High soccer games. We missed him last night and everyone was wondering where he was. He entertained us with his drum beating and we will miss his presence at the games and at the annual Italian dinner. The boys will miss him too. They already were wondering why he was not at last nights game. We didn't know he passed away. God Bless

My deepest sympathies. Some of my fondest memories of my adolescence was sharing meals with your family, with all the discussions and new ideas. Paul was always the leader of those deliberations, challenging, and prodding one to better understanding.
