Ralph Quay Obituary

Ralph Ellis Quay, 83, of Mesa, AZ passed away on September 10, 2007. Ralph was born March 22, 1924 in Toledo, OH to Orlo and Estella Quay. He served in the US Navy from 1940 - 1945 as a Shipboard Radioman, after leaving the military Ralph married Rachel Hawkins on January 27, 1946 at the Wilkins Evangelical Church in Swanton, OH. He was a life member of the Toledo Bowling Assn, Buckhorn Elks of Mesa, AZ, Swanton Fire Dept. and the V.F.W., as well as being a member of the American Legion, Toledo Bowling Hall of Fame and Calvary Baptist Church in Mesa, AZ. Ralph worked as an engineer for Ohio DOT and retired in 1983. After retiring he worked as a consultant for various engineering firms in Ohio who were working on the Ohio Tpke, Toledo Express Airport and Columbus and Dayton Airports and retired permanently in 1998. He is survived by his wife Rachel, seven children Mary (Stephen) Gregg, Suzanne (Ron) Sauer, Dorothy (Jim) Thompson, George (Nancy) Quay, Janet (Thomas) Turner, Carol (Robert) Schaefer and Roger (Pat) Quay; brother Melvin Quay and sister Lauretta Loar; 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Chester and Glen. Services will be held at a later date in Ohio. Mariposa Gardens Funeral Care handled the arrangements (480) 830-4422
