Winfred Moyer Weisel

Winfred Moyer Weisel, 92, of Roanoke, Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 13, 2010. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Wright Weisel; and sons-in-law, Robert David Guthrie and Gene D'Orazio. Mr. Weisel was a long time member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where he was an elder and sang in the choir for 40 years. He volunteered for many years at the Presbyterian Community Center and was a faithful member of the Salem Rotary Club. His strong faith and Christian example touched all who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Betty Cranwell Weisel; daughters, Ruth L. Guthrie, Jane D'Orazio, and Elizabeth A. Hodges and husband, Glen; son, Andrew W. Weisel and wife, Betty; grandchildren, Scott Guthrie and wife, Susanne, Robin Fawcett and husband, Richard, Chris Weisel, Bennett Weisel, and Megan E. Hodges; great-grandsons, David Guthrie, and Henry Fawcett; brother, Harold Weisel; step children, J. Richard Cranwell and wife, and Melissa, Jane Ellen Barbe and husband, David; and stepgrandchildren, Ashlin Acheson, Logan Barbe, Lindsay Thorp, Caitlin Cranwell, and Charlotte Cranwell. Memorial Services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2010, at Covenant Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Robert and Dusty Fiedler officiating. Interment will be private in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2010, at Oakey's South Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Presbyterian Community Center, 1228 Jamison Ave., Roanoke. Va. 24013.
