All I can say is, I KNOW! I lost my mama a few years ago, and sometimes it can STILL feel as fresh as the day it happened. Bittersweet memories, of my hero, my mama. You really don't know until you go through it yourself. Thank God for those good memories and words our mothhers gave us to live by and pass on to our children, to pull on during those tough times!

Dear Hillary, My deepest sympathies upon the death of your mother. The loss of one's mother is very very hard. She must have been strong and wonderful to survive her childhood and then to go on and thrive as a woman. Resourseful. I got to know her through your autobiography which I just finished at midnight last night. Thank you for introducing us. I loved your book and getting to know you. Wish I had read it earlier - I certainly would have worked for your nomination.
Peace, Cele Bona

I am so sorry for your loss - your mother sounded amazing - such a strong woman!I lost my beloved mother on July 4th of this year at the age of 94 - she too was a strong and independent woman - she was always my inspiration - we'll never stop loving and missing them but can be comforted in knowing they are at peace and no longer suffering illnesses - how blessed we were to have such wonderful women to call "Mother".

Dear Hillary,
I am so sad to hear about your mother's death. My heart goes out to you, your brothers, and Chelsea. I like to think that my mother and father, Ben and Ferne Alter and your parents, are having cocktails together, talking, and laughing about old times. I grew up hearing about Dorothy and Hugh in Chicago and the call about their marriage in Horse Cave, KY. My mother was so thrilled to see your parents and visit with them at the Inauguration. Ferne lived long enough to see the second Inauguration on TV in a nursing home. She said, "Look, there's Dorothy!" That was what she cared about. I still have the get well card from your mother that hung in her room.

Part of you leaves you when you lose your Mom. Remember the laughter, the quiet times together, the family gathering and most of all remember the smiles of love of your Mother. Those memories will help you get through the rough times. I recently lost my Mom and there are times tear will flow and remembering times like those is what keeps me going and help ease a pain in my heart that can't be describe.
My prayers are with you, Chelsea and your entire family at this time.

Dearest Hillary, and family,
What a blessing to have such a wonderful mother. She sounds a lot like my mother, in that she was always giving such sound advice. When you came to the Akron, OH Democratic headquarters in 2008, you were kind enough to sign the very old photo of you and the President from your White House years, which we had hanging on the wall all these years still. May God be with you, and comfort you, at this time of sorrow. Please accept my deepest sympathy. You are loved.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Dear Hillary and Family,
I don't believe you have to personally know someone to feel the loss and sadness when a family member passes away. Please know that many people around the world know the very special lady you ALL have lost. I hope you all will remember her often; talk about her often; talk to her often and look through the many years of photographs with the fondest of memories because you HONOR her with every gesture, with every word and with the many loving talks you will have remembering her and those talks you will have with her. Even though she isn't here to return the loving moments, you all will feel her always with you! So, think of her often, speak of her often, look through the pictures and talk with her and she will forever be with you and those who knew her or hear of her.
Heaven has acquired a new Angel and she watches over you all! God bless you and your family and friends!

A poem I wrote when my Mom passed away...
Her presence influenced who we were
and her absence will influence who
we are. Our lives are shaped as much
by those who leave us as they are by
those who stay.
Loss is our legacy-
Insight is our gift-
Memory is our guide-
Sorry for your loss,

M is for the million things she gave me-O means only that she's growing old-T is for the tears she shed to save me-H is for her heart as pure as gold-E is for her eyes with lovelight shining- R means right and right she'll always be-put them all together they spell MOTHER- a word that means the world to me. I lost my mom 51 years ago in Ky. and grew up in foster care in Northern Ky. This song was one my church called Wilmington Baptist in Fiskburg sang every Mother's Day. When my 18 month old granddaughter Meghan died suddenly in 2006 I told my older daughter Shannon that even though she can;t be here and you can't be there- she will always be in your heart and noone can take that from you.I hope your mom is up there catching balloons all day along with my mom and granddaughter. Someone told me this one day after Meghan passed away. "It's not goodbye- It's see you later. May God hold you in his hand and wrap his arms around you. Marshia from Kentucky
