The publisher says James died Thursday at her home in Oxford, southern England.

Sincere Syympathy to the James Family.
I have read all of her excellent books. They truly are all works of art. Her writing style was so unique. You simply felt you were part of the book and knew the characters.
I met PD James on a Translantic Crossing on the Cunard where was the guest and did several Q & Q's. I personally chatted with her several times on the ship and was delighted to have my photo taken with her in the library.
RIP, loyal to your readers and loyal to your faith. A well deserved rest. I shall always remember you.

P. D. James' writings will be highly valued for decades to come. For this, we her readers are greatly appreciative and deeply indebted. I have long been a fan of P.D.'s books and am saddened at her passing. I love Brit mysteries and she was the best of the best in that genre. May her family and friends be comforted in that she led a very substantial life and entertained many fans, such as myself, with her writings.

Good novelist and writers are very hard to find or to enjoy lately... P.D. James was one of the great ones, and you can say so if you read "The children of men"... That shows she had a huge personality and would amazed you with her intriguing writings and stories. It's sad to know she passed away. P.D. James was truly an amazing person with so much talent the loss is clearly ours. Prayers fill our hearts and burst forth from our mouths to God asking him to let us remember clearly the love we have for this wonderful person gone from our lives never forgetting the joy we shared experiencing a great and authentic talent. It is P. D. James' extraordinarily deep insights into human nature that makes her work so compelling. She never wrote a bad book, and she didn't just write "mysteries," but literature itself. We are all made poorer by her passing; but how very much richer she made the lives of her many readers.
