4/19/15--I just found out today of his passing when I went to my local library to inquire about the latest Tiffany aching book--when I left I cried--I will cherish what he left behind but I will sorely miss the continuing saga of Discworld and its inhabitants.

A true gentleman and incredible writer. All your characters will live on in your books and my mind. I hope that at the end, it was as you wished, not quite in the garden but surrounded by those closest to you. May your family find solace in your release

Such a quirky look on life is in itself the Colour of Magic and my first meeting of you. My life has been inspired by your books and I will always be fantasy addict. Get to grips with the big man and get to change from Capitals to Italics and be a bit more laid back :)

May the God of all comfort be with the Pratchett family during this very difficult time. We all yearn for better conditions. How encouraging to know that God's Word the Bible assures us the time will come when all sorrows and pain and death will be gone forever and mankind will live in beautiful surroundings with nothing to fear. (Isaiah 65:17, 21-25)

Thank you for the smiles, Sir PTerry, and the chance to escape to another world. I became a fan of Discworld 16 years ago and then by a strange coincidence I found myself living in the next village until last year. You were very much loved and respected in your village and the whole valley, your generosity was legendary. Reading your books and speaking to many locals I have found a lot of characters, both still living and gone beyond. My best wishes and condolences to the family, we have lost a true wordsmith.

Goodbye Sir Terry Pratchett. You became a "Small God" in your own right(write) by creating a world almost as complex and full as this one.I don't know what death holds, no one does, but my hope is that you are somewhere in the universe creating more worlds.

One of the great ones has passed away - he'll be sorely missed. I can't believe we won't read any more of his amazing stories and get a chance to visit our favourite haunts at Ankh-Morpork and the entire Discworld. Sincere condolences to his family and friends - but also to his millions of fans who are grieving his passing.

Wee Free Men sing a ballad
with a one-word chorus. . . Oook!
As Granny blows the candles out
around his latest book.
The smell of sapient pearwood
drifts across the library floor.
Vetinari gives the signal.
. . . So Igor lock the door.
Dibbler`s selling hymn sheets
to the people in the queue.
Sam Vines and Moist von Lipwig
will both say a word or two.
But we. . . Stand shocked and silent.
All the world seems flat today.
Then a voice rings from the pulpit.
Clear, yet dulcet.
LET US PRAY.

Open mindedness with the right kind of thought can bring about change, but is it permanent. Helping others to take the long view is a way of life that is satisfying. Not taking yourself to seriously can lead to more opening of the mind. How I wish your family and friends will find comfort in your beautiful memories of Terry. My sincere condolence.

I have long wanted to congratulate Terry on his success but had not had the opportunity. Anyway, here's a too long belated 'well done Terry' from a face he will have long forgotten, remembering Holtspur School, Upper Riding and Cherry Tree Road. His mum and dad would be so amazed and proud at the reaction of the world to Terry's passing. I don't know what family he had but to them, thank you for being his. We have all moved a long way from that piece of road but it is remembered with great fondness. She is gone too but Terry talked to my mum a lot when trying to fill column inches at the Bucks Free Press in the 'silly season', tapping her knowledge of the local area. With great respect, Frank Wright

The world has lost one of its brightest authors. I know, as well as most of us here, that Sir Terry did face severe difficulties these last years.
I would like to thank you, Terry. You taught me english in a way that surpassed my peers. You gave me so many laughs. Even though people usually say that someone gave them both laugh and tears, you only gave me laughs (sure, sometimes the laughs brought me to tears). I am extremely sad over your passing, and i thoroughly wish that your family and friends find each other in these trying times.
Love from Sweden

In the words of Sir Terry Pratchett himself, or Death if you will : "HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN. TO BE THE PLACE WHERE THE FALLING ANGEL MEETS THE RISING APE."
His novels have been a great source of inspiration and joy for me growing up, and instilled a great passion in me for the fantasy genre in general, and with his passing the world has become a less better place.
I offer my most heartfelt condolences to the friends and family he left behind, may you find comfort in these coming days.

...For those of us who loved Sir Terry's work, we know that both Sir Terry and his cat saw Death and Susan in the room (for this was not a task to be delegated); and both would wish him well as he began his journey across the Black Sands. As the rest of us join him one by one in our time, Sir Terry will never walk alone.
