Vince and I had over a 10-year correspondence. He wrote to me basically on his death bed to say goodbye. I'm remembering him on the anniversary of his death. Will miss him forever

First read Helter Skelter as a teen when the book first came out. Loved it then, a fascinating read. Bought it again recently after watching a special on the Manson Family and loved it even more. Was so sad to hear of Mr. Bugliosi´s passing. He was quite the man.

I met Vince in 1956 at lake Wawasee in Indiana. He and his wife ( they may not have been married then ) were staying with Homer Shoop, an avid, but not very good tennis player, who owned a bank in North Webster, Indiana. Shoop hired Vince to work in his bank. But that was'nt the real reason Vince was there. Vince was an unbelievable tennis player who had just graduated from University of Miami, Fla.,
where he was on a tennis scholarship. Vince had just lost a five set match in the finals of the City of Miami Tennis Championship to GardnerMaloy, one of the highest ranked amatures in men's tennis in the world. I too was an avid tennis player, but only 15 years old. After much effort and begging Shoop let me hang out at his private tennis court, where I hero worshiped Vince. He helped me a great deal with my game. Years passed, and I played college tennis and worked with renowned teacher Nick Bollettieri. I then became a lawyer. Of course I knew of the Manson murders and followed the trial, never once connecting Vince with all of that. A few years later I ran into Homer Shoop in the Salt Lake airport and asked "what ever became of my hero, Vince Bugliosi?" I was shocked. Now he had become my hero yet again. I even tried to call him at his L.A. office, but couldn't get through to him. I failed to mention that I also am the father on actor Rob Lowe. Using that fact got me through to Vince on my next call. We had a wonderful chat in which he downplayed all of his accomplishments, even those on the tennis courts. All of this just to say how sorry I am that Vince passed away. He certainly had a huge positive impact on my life. My best regards to his family. Chuck Lowe

I just found out tonight watching Dateline that Vincent had left us. I am so sorry,I didn't know. I read Helter Skelter in high school and couldn't put it down. I really admired Mr. Bugliosi, valued his opinions on every major crime and its coverage. The world has lost a great man and a great legal mind. To his family; your husband and father was an extraordinary human being and I am so so sorry for your loss

It is May 2017 and I just found out about this passionate man's passing. I don't know where my head was in June of 2015, but I am shocked. What a loss to the justice system and our world. I believe he is and will always be, one of the best attorneys. R.I.P Vincent.

Mr Bugliosi had a brilliant mind and I thoroughly enjoyed his books. I read Helter Skelter when it first came out and I remembered being so cold with fear that I wouldn't stop reading until my husband would get home from work at midnight. How wonderfully and fearfully descriptive it was!! I am sorry to hear of Mr Bugliosi' s passing. My sympathy to his family. Mickey Honeycutt Chelsea, Al.

My sympathy goes to the family of Vincent Bugliosi. He did a great job prosecuting Manson and his Family. There's just no telling how many lives were saved as a result. I wish the Bugliosi family the very best. Rest in peace.

Mr. Bugliosi was one of the great unsung Americans of the twentieth century, and his dedication to justice, history, and reason will be sorely missed.
"Helter Skelter" is one of the best histories of the 60s, "The Divinity of Doubt" one of the best and funniest! brief defenses of human reason, and "Reclaiming history" is the finest popular historiography of our time.
Vincent was one of the few men always worth listening to, and will always be a role model for thinking people who want to make the world a better place.
Please do not forget nor neglect his efforts, they are all worthy of your commitment.

Vincent Bugliosi is a true legend, a true professional & a man of unmovable integrity with a duty in his working life to find only the truth based on only the facts. I vaguely remember the Manson murders in 1969 when they happened, I was only 9 years old. It was subsequently looking into the case n my adult life that I learned the microscopic detail Mr Bugliosi went into in order to determine the truth.
I also regard his work on the Death of your president John Kennedy as a massive contribution to getting rid of so much of the conspiracy nonsense & wishful thinking. To listen to the man was a privilege & a joy, he will be sadly missed by all who admired his skills & work. It's been good knowing you Vincent, deepest sympathy to all this brilliant man's family. This Scotsman will hold you on a pedestal sir.

Believe it or not, I have just learned of his passing today after watching the 4th episode of "The Seventies" that CNN is currently running. I had it recorded, and watched it this afternoon. The episode focused on the horrific murders by Manson and others in the 70's. It was just a second of a blip at the end, where I saw that the episode was dedicated to his memory. What!?! I'm shocked that I didn't hear on the news, I'm a news hound, how did I miss this? He was such an inspiration to me, this fine, talented, eloquently-spoken man. A giant of a man. I remember him stepping forward during the Manson murders as the lead prosecutor, and I thought, wow, he means business. This man is going to put these ppl. away for the rest of their lives. I was 12 at the time. Immediately after it was published, I read Helter Skelter, but no other of his writings. I also admired his work with the Kennedy Assassination. I do believe it is time to read Four Days In November. I will miss seeing him on television, and listening to his voice of reason, WITH that wonderful voice he had. My deepest condolences to Mrs. Bugliosi and the children. Rest in peace Mr. Vincent.

Vince did not want to be known only for Helter Skelter. I believe Divinity of Doubt was his favorite. I wanted to meet Vince in person and never had the opportunity. I appreciate all of his books and CD. The Betrayal of America should be read by every school child. He is so missed. Condolences again to the family.

I again have to say that the world has lost a great man, a good egg. I always listen to his Latin music CD that took him 30 years to produce. The truest voice of reason and truth is silenced way too soon. My condolences to the family and to the world. He was one of a kind. I mourn his loss. We corresponded for about 15 years and I never got to meet him, which I will always regret. His work lives on. Hugs to the family

I want to extend my sincere condolences to the family for losing such a wonderful man. We have been pen palls for about 15 years and his last letter to me said "Your friend forever". As one of his students in the Criminal Law class he taught while he was in the midst of the Tex Watson trial, I will always remember how he taught us an appreciation for the legal concepts thru actual application based upon that week's trial proceedings. RIP for a great prosecutor. Although I did not agree with some of his later stands, I never doubted his courage or dedication to justice. He was one of the few to publicly defend Mark Fuhrman from the media feeding frenzy. I started my legal career as a prosecutor largely due to my reading of "Helter Skelter" and Mr. Bugliosi's example. God Bless.

I met Vincent when I was a very little girl. He worked with my father, Earl R. Siddall and I would bump into Vincent when I was at the courthouse with my dad whom from my recollection helped in the Manson case behind the scenes. I accidentally saw a few photos from the evidence and these images were horrific. All too much for a kid. But I was curious and well there ya go. Anyway, Vincent was always kind to me and I followed his input about cases till his passing. This case and his tireless and genuine work on the senseless hideous murders of those whose killers were thankfully placed behind bars played a pivotal role in my life and learning throughout my education. He will be and is missed. My loving thoughts go out to his family. My most sincere condolances, Brianne Siddall
Ps: if there is a funeral planned it would be my honor to pay my respects to my childhood friend of sorts. Thank you.

I am sadden at the passing of Vincent Bugliosi, the real story of Manson was brought out by him in court and no one received a sentence they didn't deserve. I'm so glad he got to tell the real story of the crimes Manson ordered by brain washing his followers. His book was creepy as it should be as he told it as it happening. The One on NBC now about Charley Manson is a joke compared to the truth. Thank you Mr. Bugliosi and rest in peace.

Rest now, esteemed counselor, knowing that your work is done and that have faithfully served not only your many gifts but also your fellow citizens. Your example will forever instruct the hearts of just men, and stir uneasiness and fear in the wicked.

Admired this man especially after reading helter skelter, not just because he won the case, but also because of the in-between self sacrifices I observed while he worked around the clock as he did, with perseverance , sometimes being frustrated, with little to go on (I.e. inconsistently behaving witnesses, etc.) yet, still continuing to run the race, and now you've finished running your own race, Vince; enter his full glory!

I just saw of his passing and I am heartbroken. Just a few days ago I was telling the girls at lunch of my admiration for him and his advice to prepare your closing argument first. I loaned my long-worn copies of Helter Skelter and The Sea Will Tell to one and tried to impress upon her what a giant this man was. Imagine, I said, convicting a man who never committed a murder and sentencing a man to life with no parole who used only his words as weapons. I'm tearing up thinking of this stellar man. I hope, hope, hope he knew what a star he was and the good he did on this planet.

Many years ago when I was still a baby lawyer, I met Vincent at a conference. He graciously sat with me and dispensed advice, which I soaked up like a sponge. Through the years, I have always followed Vincent's advice. When preparing for trial, prepare your closing argument first so that you know what you need to get into evidence. He was a litigator's litigator. RIP and condolences to his family.
