Dan Gill Obituary

Dan GILL October 9, 1950 ~ August 8, 2008 Dan Gill, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend passed away unexpectedly on 8/8/08. Dan was born in Seattle to Rodney and Harriett Gill. He graduated from Queen Anne HS in 1969. He proudly served in the US Navy for four years during the Vietnam War. In 1974 he married the love of his life, Cathie Coit of Seattle. Dan Worked as a Tradesman at Seattle Pacific University for 33 years. He volunteered as video-grapher for the Mens and Womens basketball teams at SPU for over ten years. Dan loved to play his guitar for the praise band at Mukilteo Presbyterian. He will be remembered by those who knew him for his loyalty, love of the Lord, humor, attention to detail, love for his family, and love of travel. Dan is survived by his wife, Cathie; children, Sarah, Chris, and Ian; son-in-law, Jay; mother, Harriett; brothers, Patrick and Michael; and sisters, Eileen, Julie and Rosemary. A memorial service will be held at Mukilteo Presbyterian Church Sunday, 8/17/08 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Greater Future Fund at Mukilteo Presbyterian Church or The Athletic Department at Seattle Pacific University.

I practically grew up with Sarah and I can remember countless occasions where all would be very serious, when suddenly Dan would crack a joke. I remember him for his humor.

I don't think there are any words of comfort when you lose someone so unexpectedly. Anything I could say may sound trite and meaningless as you go through the grief. There are no words. Just know I'm thinking of you Cathie, Chris, Ian, Sarah, and Jay as you go through this.

Cathy,
Saranne and I were so saddened to hear of Dan's sudden passing. Our prayers are for the family that is left to mourn, but, we know Dan is now in glory with the Lord - a peace that can only come to those who trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Cathie,
Words seem so inadaquate when we try to express our feelings. So we state them simply and with deep love to you, Sarah, Chris and Ian. Even though Danny will be physically gone from us, he will always be close in our hearts and memories. He was a wonderful brother and brother-in-law to Martin and I. We can't choose a favorite memory,they all are and we reflect on all of them as we celebrate his life.
