HAROLD D. "HAL" MORRIS CHATSWORTH, GA / SCHERERVILLE, IN
Harold D. "Hal" Morris, age 80, of Chatsworth, GA and former longtime resident of Schererville, IN, passed away peacefully September 29, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn; four children: Harold Scott, Stewart, Sherman and Lisa (Giorgio) Carrao; and two twin grandchildren: Alexander and Amanda Carrao. Also surviving are six stepchildren: Tim Flaherty, Melissia (Bob) Gresham, Sandra (Mike) Nelson, Rick Ippalito, Steven Ippalito and Cheryl (William) Merio; two brothers: Harry (Audry) Morris and Ronald (Catherine) Morris; his sister Rita Sizer; special lifetime friend Robert Bresick; aunts and uncles: Elwanda (Leon) Joiner, Wendell (Mary Lou) Beeler and Malcolm (Marian) Fentress; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, step grandchildren, and friends. Waiting to greet Hal in Heaven are his beloved parents: Harry and Lucille Morris; and brother, Lowell. A musician from the age of 13, Hal started the "Hal Morris Trio," playing for all kinds of events in the Calumet Region for 65 years. He also had opportunity to perform for two former presidents. At the age of 24, he was the proud founder and owner of the "Hal Morris Music Store" and remained so until retirement. As a young man he loved and was very involved in sports, playing baseball and running track for Clark High School. He was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in 2001 for being the Indiana State Champion in 1946. Hal was baptized in the Church of Christ as a young man. His presence will be deeply missed and Hal's memory forever cherished by all who were privileged to know and love him. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 S. Cline Ave. (1/2 mile S. of US 30), Schererville, IN on Sunday, October 5, 2008 from 2:00- 4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. A service to celebrate Hal's life will take place in the funeral home on Monday, October 6, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. At rest, Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville. With each passing generation it is like finishing another chapter in a book. And the memory lingers on. I remember Hal putting a speaker in his bedroom window and entertaining the neighbors with his guitar playing. Yes, the memory lingers on.
